The belt is tied using what is basically a reef knot, only formed from tape rather than cord. The essential point is to avoid twisting the strands, thus ensuring that they lie flat:
Begin with the centre of the belt at the small of the back | Pass the right side strand over the left side | Then under the left strand and out the top |
Pass what is now the left strand over the right strand | Then under the right strand and out the top | Ensuring the strands lie flat and have not become twisted |
Tighten the knot firmly | Making sure the ends are of equal length | And it should look like this! |
